Kindergarten here we come!
Anabelle's first day of kindergarten was a success. Although, I think we are all exhausted from the anticipation and excitement. The day started with a few nerves as Ana wondered if the school bus would have seat-belts. Emilia could sense something was going on, as Ana and I conducted our photo session on the front porch (notice Emi in the background).
We tried to make the morning as normal as possible, having Mike drop off Ana at school and leave, as to not cause a big scene when the bus came. Ana is so unpredictable we were afraid that she'd cry and refuse to get on the bus when it came. Unfortunately I don't think we gave her enough credit because after school she told us she was sad because we were the only Mommy and Daddy not there. Broke my heart. We'll add that to the list for her future therapy sessions.
So after crying the entire drive to daycare, Mike and I both hid in the parking lot, drank our Starbucks, ate our Dunkin Donuts and watched from afar as our first-born headed to her first day of kindergarten. I was a blubbering mess.
In the afternoon Mike and I were both able to leave early so we were there when the bus dropped Anabelle off at daycare. She was all smiles as she exited the bus with her friends from school and gave me the biggest and best hug ever!
Ana was very excited to tell us about her day which included - "papers, circle time, lunch, gym, music, go home". She said lunch was her favorite part of the day, while she claims she didn't use the restroom the entire day?!? She made lots of new friends (not sure of their names yet) and enjoyed recess. She also successfully gave her teacher Twizzlers for a first-day gift. Hard to believe today has come and gone, but we are so proud of our little girl!
