Track, a Tooth and a Tumble
What an exciting week at the Freeman household. Monday night Anabelle had her very first track practice. I was so, so proud of her. The weather was absolutely horrible, 50's and windy and it was wet from raining all day. She didn't know but one other kid at practice and she was only one of two kindergartners out of thirty-some kids ranging first through fifth grade. She stuck it out the entire hour and a half practice, ran when she was told to run and made a big effort to do all the drills at 100%. Not to mention, she was super adorable running around the track in her pink track suit and blond ponytail.
Tuesday night Mike returned home from a LONG Final Four trip. We were so happy to have him and his five loads of laundry home! We are very proud of him, the Butler staff, players and coaches.
Wednesday Anabelle had her second track practice. Because Mike had to attend the Bulldog celebration pep rally, he wasn't able to get home in time to take Ana and met us at the track later. Unfortunately, chaos erupted before he could arrive. Emilia crazy pants would not behave. She kept running off, saying hi and poking (yes, seriously) all the other parents who were standing around watching their kids. She was also trying to pick up every piece of trash in the area while putting rocks in her mouth. I unfortunately was that not-so-attentive mother (that you talk about with your friends) because I had a screaming six-week-old who needed a bottle. As Abram was midway through eating, and I thought I was almost home-free, Emilia decided to full sprint across the asphalt, trip over a ball and face plant half on the asphalt and half on the gravel. Panicked, I ran over to her, Abe in one arm, and picked up Emlia in the other arm. I proceeded to try and balance them both as they screamed bloody murder (Abe because his bottle stopped and Emi because she was bleeding). I finally got Abe back to his stroller and fought back my tears as I picked gravel out of Emilia's teeth. I felt so horrible and was completely embarrassed. Was I really that mom who let her kid run around crazy and get hurt?
For those of you who know Emilia, this is probably not a surprise, but our little pistol was over her boo boos in a little less than five minutes and back to tasting rocks.
On Wednesday Anabelle also lost her second bottom tooth. She was much more adventurous this time from the last. She kept the tooth next to her head all night and the tooth fairy brought her $1.50!
It's starting to feel like spring and we are super excited for warmer weather. Anabelle has been watching our plants and trees start to bloom. The magnolia tree is in full effect. Bring on the lilac bushes!
