Odds & Ends

The first vegetable from our garden, a banana pepper, was ready to be picked on Sunday. I then stuffed it with goat and cream cheese and baked it in the oven. Yummy!
This weekend also involved some redecorating. Apparently, according to Emilia, the teeny tiny hole in our ottoman needed to be bigger and better. So, what started out as a pea-sized hole, ended up like this. I refuse to buy new furniture until we move to a bigger house, so if anyone has any thoughts on how patch this up, I'm open to suggestions.
Since his ear infection Abe hasn't gone back to sleeping through the night. Mike's been great the past few weeks, getting up from between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. every morning for the annual middle of the night freak-out. Abe has a great set of lungs but he sure is cute.
Mike's back has been giving him problems since we returned from vacation last week. He's been in a lot of pain and unable to get around very well. He finally went to see the trainer at Butler today who told him his hips were out of allignment. Weird. They gave him the contraption pictured below. It's a long stick-like thingy with handles. Apparently it's made to help massage the pain. He's scheduled for a few more treatments from the trainer this week.
Although providing relief for Mike, the stick proved dangerous in our house. We almost ended up in the emergency room after Emilia walked into the stick's path as mike was twirling it around. She was completely clobbered in the face. Good thing Emilia is a tough girl. She cried awhile but was soon back to normal... except for the swollen mouth.

Emilia also learned a new word this week. I wish we knew what she was trying to say, but instead of trying to figure it out, we end up busting up with laughter every time she tries to tell us.
