Come along for the ride...

Just when your heart is absolutely full to the brim with love for your children and you think you couldn't possibly make more room, another little one comes along and proves you all wrong. Our hearts have expanded 100x for our newest miracle and I cannot tell you how happy we are to have him in our lives.

Thursday through Saturday were spent at the hospital. We love St. Vincent Women's Hospital and think they do a tremendous job. We had a few visitors, but mostly tried to rest and prepare ourselves for what was in store once we got home.
While in the hospital our friends Kat and Trey sent over a box full of treats from The Flying Cupcake. It was the perfect idea and as you can see below, there were already two gone before I even thought to take a picture!
Mike and Abram watched the Butler men's basketball game together on Saturday and we were discharged right after. Abre was ready for his new role as little brother.
Since we've been home, big middle sister has tried her best to adjust. The first few days she followed me around everywhere saying, "Mommy, up pleeeaaasssee" over and over and over again. Then anytime Abram would cry (even in the middle of the night) she'd yell, "Baby, baby, baby" over and over and over again. She now just squeals with excitement every time Abram cries, hickups, sneezes, or moves in any other way. I think she was used to baby dolls, still and lifeless. Now that we have a baby that move and wiggles, she's thrilled.
Anabelle has been a wonderful big, big sister. She's super helpful, dadoes endlessly over Abram and always wants to hold him. Daddy has been great too, trying to give the girls some extra lovin through the transition.  He has also picked up some new skills, such as personal stylist.
This past week we also experienced some additional (and unwelcome) drama.

Friday-Saturday
Someone door dinged us at the hospital. There is a pretty large dent in our passenger rear door and we can't figure out how else it could have got there. Mike took it to the shop to get an estimate... needless to say, not cheap!

Sunday
Sunday night we stuck a casserole in the oven that Mike's mom had left for us. I wasn't paying attention enough to notice that the plastic lid was foiled to the bottom of the pan. We successfully cooked the casserole but found melted plastic all over the stove when finished.  I went ahead and turned it on "clean" mode once we were done eating then went to give the girls a bath. Not 15 minutes later I hear Mike yell (more like a girlie scream) from the kitchen. I ran in to find him pacing and yelling, "The oven is on fire, call the fire department and get the kids out of here." I was a little more calm, but not much. I immediately turned off the oven and realized why when on clean mode the door automatically locks. Almost instantly the fire went out, but not before our house was filled with smelly smoke. Mike calmed down and we've aired out the house. We were able to chuckle about it later, but it goes to show you what a lack of sleep (or lack of attention to detail) can do to you!

Tuesday

Tuesday was Anabelle's first day not attending daycare, instead the plan was for her to ride the bus to and from school from our neighborhood. I drove her and Abram a block down to the stop because it was super cold. I parked and let Ana sit in the front seat while we waited for the bus. She said she was excited and couldn't wait to make new friends on the new bus. When it pulled up, we both got out and I walked her over to the steps. As if on que, she started to break down crying and refused to board saying she was scared. I couldn't physically make her, so I just told the bus driver to go ahead and leave. I then had to drive her to her school. Did I mention I'm not supposed to drive yet? We pulled up in the car drop-off line and Anabelle took three steps toward the door and turned around and ran back to the car crying. I couldn't get out of the car because I was in the car line and because Abe was with us. I just sternly told her she had to go in or she was going to miss school. She finally went in....whew. I was worried, but she did fine in the afternoon, thank goodness, and we haven't had a problem since. Being so tired and hormonal, I was a mess after the whole ordeal.  All is well now. This morning she was posing for Daddy while she waited with him at the stop.

Abram has been a joy. He's also been a guy's guy. With two girls I was totally not prepared for this peeing on everything stuff. When I say he pees on everything, I really mean it. The second you take off his diaper he's on a mission, and the first few days home we went through at least 4-6 outfits a day.

Abe also had his one-week doctor checkup today. His stats are below. Doctor said he's doing great and looks perfect. His percentages were average, but as we've seen with the girls, I'm sure they'll quickly rise.

Weight - 8lbs, 4 oz (31st percentile)
Height - 21'' (79th percentile)
Head - 14.25'' (44th percentile)

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous.
It is to decide forever to have your heart go
walking around outside your body.
