The Good and the Bad

The Good...
Tonight was Dance Unlimited's Christmas recital at the high school. Anabelle has been looking forward to it for weeks, which if you know Anabelle is a really big deal. Usually we have to provide her a little extra encouragement to participate in things, but she was all systems go for tonight.
Anabelle was the cutest Polar Puppy and did a great job in her third winter recital. I thought it would be fun to compare the years... how time flies!

The Bad...
Unfortunately, we had some bad with the good....  When I picked up Emilia from daycare today I thought she felt a little warm, but the teacher told me that they had just gotten done playing in the "motor" room so she was probably just overheated. I should have listened to my gut because by the time we got to the high school for the recital it was obvious Emi had a high fever. She was a trooper though and stuck it out as long as she could. Unfortunately, it wasn't long enough. As we were putting on our coats to leave, she threw up all over me and all over the floor. Figures, because this was the one time that we didn't lug the big diaper bag with us, thinking, "Oh, we'll only be there an hour and we live right down the road." UGH.  Needless to say, we had no barf bags, no towels, no extra clothes. And to top it off, as she was throwing up (Mike ran to the bathroom to get some paper towels), the whole hallway FULL of parents, grandparents, friends and family, stood and stared at us, while Anabelle yelled, "EWE GROOOOSSSS".

Knowing I had a pack of wipes in my purse, I couldn't figure out what to do or how to get them because I had my hands full of tonight's dinner. Fortunately and finally, a very nice woman came over and brought the trash can from down the hall. I was able to free my hands to pull out a smaller bag that someone had thrown away that Emilia could use to capture everything (instead of the floor and her shirt, as she had been) and grab the wipes out of my purse. I cleaned up Emi and the floor around us as best as possible and after a few more efforts to empty her stomach, Mike finally reappeared.... that bathroom must have been in the next building! You couldn't get us out of there fast enough.

Emilia's temperature was 102.2 when we got home. Hopefully a little Tylenol and sleep will help her feel better. Ana, Mike and I are praying none of us get it, and I plan to wake up early tomorrow to clean and disinfect the entire house to try and kill whatever it is she has.

Wish us luck.
